VALENTINE’S DAY THOUGHTS FOR ADULTS

Can I be honest? Valentine’s Day isn’t one of my favorite holidays.

Yes, it reminds boyfriends, partners, and spouses to do something to show that they care about us. Yet, after almost ten years of marriage, the thing I want from my partner isn’t overpriced flowers (Trader’s Joes has a great seasonal selection I can buy anytime) or diamonds (they have never been my best friend). Nope. I just want daily support and a heart-felt thank you for the millions of little ways that I make family life and work life more enjoyable around these parts. That doesn’t cost a thing.

So. I pitch a fork in V-day celebrations for myself and I bury the lingerie in the laundry closet behind the extra filters. He’ll find it when he’s doing the necessary house work. That’s love. Haha. 😉

Now. Although I don’t love the holiday, that doesn’t mean I want to deprive the kiddos a chance to craft, color, learn, or boogie down to kid-friendly love songs. That’s not my style.

In fact, my team and I have created some sweet Valentine’s Day Printables we think your kids will adore.

VALENTINE’S DAY PRINTABLES FOR KIDS

Candy Heart Lacing Printables

Improving your child’s fine motor skills doesn’t need to be boring. Cut out these heart lacing printables, use a hole punch to punch the circles, and grab kid-friendly lace or string and allow them to thread the hearts. It’s a task that doesn’t take long but those little fingers will be put to work grasping and pulling.

Be Mine Scissor Practice Printable

Get out the child-safe scissors and have fun practicing cutting out the shape of a heart with this printable. Psst…The fun doesn’t have to end when the cutting is finished. Use glitter, noodles, stickers, or whatever you have to decorate the heart for a craft time that is sure to be memorable and perhaps a bit messy.

About Me Valentines Printable

Use the holiday to talk to your kid about themselves in the first-person. Ask them about the things they love, at this age it changes often – I know. It’ll get a conversation started and talking with toddlers is rarely ever boring.

Valentine Spot The Difference Printable

Challenge your little learner to spot the differences in this pink and red Valentine’s Day themed spot the difference activity. Tip: Although this is a printable, I find that this is a quick activity that can be done using a device with a screen. Of course, this is just an option.
